Field Mediation: C5 at The Technology Museum of Innovation
San Jose, California
Topic: Mingling
The C5 presentation at the Tech Museum of Innovation Opening had the appearance of a round-table discussion.
Over the course of two days, C5 Research-Theorists discussed Mingling Theory and Analysis as well as
demonstrated RCSP (Radio Controlled Surveillance Probe) data collection tactics as Mingling. Mingling Theory(TM)
constitutes a new field research developed at C5. Mingling theory and analysis was developed to address questions
involving: Knowledge Engineering, Self-Organization, Network Theory, Computation, Social Networks, Surveillance and
Situational Systems.
C5 Field Mediations are interdisciplinary endeavors in which all Research-Theorists participate to provide a
complex range of discursive positions on a topic. The event is surveilled for the public audience on-site and made
accessible over the internet.

Radio Controlled Surveillance Probes
RCSP technology supports research of tactical strategies involving multiple surveillance probes designed for
knowledge acquisition within environments composed of high degrees of uncertainty .
Each RCSP is equipped with a wireless audio/video camera, digital compass and on-board control processor.
Real time data encoded on each video frame provides precise orientation, speed and directional information
which can be correlated to RCSP visual output and performance behavior within the probe community. Heuristic
techniques enable information mapping of RCSP interaction within the environment.
